Racing
Velo Club Montpellier is the region's premier road racing club. All riders are actively involved in racing and compete throughout its traditional season.
The road race season runs from the Spring to Autumn. The most famous races are held on the continent and include stage races, like the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana, and one day classics, like the Tour of Flanders.
In this country the season runs for a similar time. Races usually have 60 to 80 starters and are held both on closed circuits and on the open road. The objective in a road race is to be the first person over the finish line. Time is usually unimportant, only placings matter.
Team riders will also be competing in road time trials. These, unlike road races, are individual races against the clock and can often provide close winning margins as time really does matter. Riders will be competing in time trials on a weekly basis providing the team with an active presence regularly throughout the year.
In 2010, Velo Club Montpellier's third competitive season, its riders will be competing at both regional and national level in various areas of the country.
